Please join us to vigil and rally on Saturday,
January 13, 2024 at 1:00 -2:00, to mark the 22nd year anniversary of
the Guantanamo Bay prison. We will vigil in front of the Augusta
National Guard Armory, at the intersection of Route 202 and Armory
Street, and then rally with speakers , singers and more.
Our message is simple: Shut Down Guantanamo. According to the
ACLU, since the prison opened in 2002, 780 prisoners have been held
there, including 21 children. More than 86% of those prisoners were
sold as prisoners to the U.S. for a bounty. Currently, 30 remain
imprisoned, 19 of which have never been charged with any
crime or offense. 16 of these 19 were cleared for release more
than 2 years ago but remain imprisoned.
We join in Commemorating Jan. 15, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. And in solidarity with the March on Washington to demand Immediate Ceasefire! in Palestine.
