Voices for Peace

Voices for Peace rehearsal. Are We “Talking to the Choir”? How many times have we spoken somewhere that we realized we were talking to the same old faithful, dependable, committed group of people? Instead of talking to the choir I invite you to sing in the choir! We are about 20 voices strong and our only expectation is that you enjoy singing and believe in peace and justice for our community and our world.

Voices for Peace began in 2005 with voices from Mt. Desert Island, Blue Hill, Orrington, Eddington, Orono, Bangor, Winterport, Belfast, and Old Town. Our vision is to be an intergenerational, inter-religious, interracial, inclusive group of people who come together to sing the message of love, peace, hope and justice.

Over the centuries change, and the hope of change, has been kept alive by music. It is in that legacy and hope that Voices for Peace sings.

We always welcome new members. We meet alternating Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 5:30 at the Center. Please join us and bring a friend.

Calling All Singers! The Peace and Justice Center celebrates the Sixteenth annual HOPE Festival this year on April 24, 2010, at the University of Maine. We are forming a community based group of singers to perform as part of the Opening Ceremonies in celebration of hope and peace in our world. We invite you, your family and your singing group to participate in this group under the musical direction of Voices For Peace director, Marty Kelley. Click here for more information.
