KING EVENT POSTPONED TO MONDAY
Because of predictions of heavy snow on Sunday, January 18th, the planned Martin Luther King, Jr. commemoration sponsored by the Peace & Justice Center of Eastern Maine has been POSTPONED to Monday, January 19th from 3:00 to 8:30 pm AT A NEW LOCATION.
Join us for a conversation about Martin Luther King Jr. and Barak Obama, 170 Park Street, Bangor on Monday, January 19th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. NOTE CHANGE IN LOCATION. The conversation will be followed by a potluck supper, 5:30 pm at the Center.
Then we will move one block down the street to the Unitarian Universalist Church at 120 Park Street for the “I have a Dream Cafe” at 7:00 pm for an open mike where people can sign up to sing a song, read a poem, perform a skit or share their thoughts for up to 10 minutes. We look forward to presentations by area high school civil rights teams who were invited by Americorps volunteers to share how they see the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.
