Calling All Singers!
The Peace & Justice Center celebrates the sixteenth annual HOPE Festival this year on April 24, 2010, at the University of Maine. We are forming a community based group of singers to perform as part of the Opening Ceremonies in celebration of hope and peace in our world. We invite you, your family and your singing group to participate in this group under the musical direction of Voices For Peace director, Marty Kelley.
This intergenerational group of singers will be comprised of several local area faith group choirs, selected school and university choruses, as well as local community singing groups. Marty will select the music and will contact you to discuss it and a possible time she could come to rehearse with you, perhaps combined with other participating groups. We hope that your group would be able to learn the music over the next few weeks at your regularly scheduled rehearsals. They will be quite simple pieces but joyful to sing together.
