WHY: Like you, we are tired of this war. And our U.S. Senators must act now to end it. Large attendance at these rallies and literature drops will help make sure that Senators Snowe and Collins know where Mainers stand. Join us, and special guest Tom Andrews, to send the message: End this war!

Every day the Iraq war continues, countless American soldiers and Iraqi citizens are killed. Every dollar we spend on the war is a dollar that is not available for the things MPA members care about: access to health care, affordable housing, and protecting our environment.

The majority of Mainers and the American people are opposed to this war. Some Mainers want to end the war immediately while others favor funding a timetable for withdrawal. But no matter how we do it, Maine’s entire Congressional delegation needs to hear one thing loud and clear: We must end this war!

Maine Senators Snowe and Collins will be key votes in the U.S. Senate on upcoming legislation to end the war. That’s why MPA members are organizing—we need to make sure our voices are heard on this issue! During April, we will be holding rallies, packing phone banks, canvassing neighborhoods, and organizing press conferences to make sure Senators Snowe and Collins know that Mainers are watching their votes closely. We need them to stop President Bush and his plans for a never-ending war!
