the day ignorance won- Lyrics by Frank Hopkins

well the election has come and gone we’re still here and holding on/
in a world in a country gone insane/the moral majority spoke up and said love thy neighbor
no more/caution flung to the wind we’re obscene and we’re bloated and we like it in here
shut the door/ there has been no outraged march/ we’re too scared and we’re too stunned/
thinking and caring they fell by the wayside the day greed and ignorance won/so come all
ye faithful/ to the altar of plenty/dip your hands in the blood/the oil and the money/in this
era of dis-information/and the crimes of mass dis-ease/when you must cease to just live
you must constantly jump/always hearing that war is peace/ it’s said nations that claim to
know justice/shall eventually come to their knees/the needs of the needy won’t be ignored/
the hopes of the poor will be received/when we are naked and facing our maker/truth is
best never counted in gold/ don’t let that stop you from buying and dying /and letting the
fever take hold/for you are the faithful..I’d like to think my hands aren’t dirty /a nd I’d like
to think my hands are squeaky clean/ but I still pay my taxes and I support your wars/and I
still buy gasoline
